Discover the story
Founded in Milan in 1978 by iconic designer Gianni Versace alongside his siblings Santo and Donatella, Versace is one of the most influential and visually bold Italian luxury fashion houses in modern history.
Versace’s creative signature was the fusion of classic Italian tailoring with pop culture, rock music, and Greco-Roman art. The brand pioneered the industrial use of ultra-flexible metal mesh (Oroton), created by Gianni Versace in 1982 to craft evening gowns with flowing metal chainmail that draped seamlessly over the human body.
The brand’s graphic identity is one of the most recognizable in the world: it uses the head of the mythological creature Medusa as its logo (chosen by Gianni because she captivated people with an irreversible, inescapable allure) paired with Greek key trim (Greca pattern) and polished gold-toned baroque detailing on black.
