Audemars Piguet
High-end Swiss watchmaking and iconic pieces.
Discover the story
Founded in 1875 by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet in Le Brassus (Switzerland), Audemars Piguet is one of the few high-end watchmaking houses that has remained continuously owned by its founding families. Based in the Vallée de Joux, the brand has historically been a pioneer in creating complex watch complications.
In 1972, Audemars Piguet revolutionized the industry with the launch of the Royal Oak, designed by Gérald Genta. It was the first luxury sports watch in history made from stainless steel, sold at a higher price point than many gold watches of the era. Its octagonal bezel secured by eight visible gold screws and its Tapisserie-patterned dial quickly became immediate icons of industrial design.
Throughout its history, the manufacture has held numerous technical records, including creating the first minute repeater mechanism for a wristwatch in 1892 and developing the world's thinnest automatic perpetual calendar watch. Today, the brand combines high-tech processes with hand-finished beveling and satin finishing to exacting standards.
