Founded in London in 1760 by James Henry Creed as a tailoring and bespoke perfumery house for British aristocracy, House of Creed is one of the luxury perfumery houses with the longest unbroken heritage. The brand moved its headquarters to Paris in 1854 at the request of Empress Eugénie of France, solidifying its status as a supplier to European royal houses.
Creed's artisan difference from mass-market brands is its continued use of the traditional Millésime technique—a term borrowed from oenology that indicates perfumes are made using specific harvests of natural ingredients. The brand hand-selects jasmine, rose, bergamot, and vetiver essences processed using artisanal infusion methods that preserve the olfactory richness of each ingredient.
As a modern design milestone, the house launched the Aventus fragrance in 2010, inspired by the life of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Crafted with notes of pineapple, smoked birch, and oakmoss, it quickly became an olfactory benchmark for the niche segment and the biggest commercial success in the company's history.
