Discover the story
Eight & Bob is a niche French perfume house whose history is closely linked to the European high society of the early 20th century and the post-war American political aristocracy. The brand was founded using the formulas of French aristocrat and amateur perfumer Albert Fouquet.
The brand's standout olfactory profile comes from a wild plant harvested exclusively in the high mountain regions of the Andes, known as Andrea. Stocks of this botanical extract are limited and dependent on annual harvests, which gives its signature fragrance a very distinct fresh, herbal aromatic profile.
The origin of its name and packaging is a verifiable historical anecdote: in 1937, a young John F. Kennedy met Albert Fouquet on the French Riviera and was captivated by his personal fragrance. After returning to the U.S., Kennedy wrote to him asking to send eight samples "and another one for Bob" (referring to his brother Robert). To protect the bottles from Nazi censorship during World War II, Fouquet's butler Philippe hid the containers inside hand-carved books—a design the brand still uses in its packaging today.
