Frédéric Malle

Author-led perfumery and master perfumers.

Discover the story

Founded in Paris in 2000 by Frédéric Malle — grandson of Serge Heftler-Louiche, founder of Parfums Christian Dior — Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle was established as a luxury perfumery publishing house designed to restore creative freedom and technical prestige to independent perfumers.

The brand’s defining conceptual difference lies in its business model: Malle acts as a literary editor but for the olfactory space, granting total creative, time, and budget freedom to the world’s top perfumers ("the noses") so they can create the fragrance of their dreams without market testing or cost constraints. For the first time in the history of industrial perfumery, the actual creator’s name is printed on the bottle label as the work’s author.

As a technical innovation, the brand’s stores feature their famous "olfactory columns" — climate-controlled, illuminated glass chambers designed and patented by Malle himself that allow customers to experience the exact scent trail the fragrance leaves in the air before applying it to their skin.
