Glashütte Original
German high-end watchmaking manufacture.
Discover the story
Located in the historic Saxon town of Glashütte, Germany, Glashütte Original is a high-end watchmaking manufacture that directly inherited the infrastructure and artisanal tradition of the state-owned watchmaking companies consolidated after World War II and privatized following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990.
The key differentiator for Glashütte Original compared to Swiss watchmakers is its strict adherence to the aesthetic and technical standards of Saxon watchmaking. Its movements feature the signature three-quarter plate decorated with Glashütte stripes, fine adjustment via the duplex swan-neck, hand-engraved balance bridges, and rubies mounted on gold settings secured with heat-blued screws.
A key distinguishing feature of the brand is its vertical integration capability: it internally manufactures more than 95% of the components for its mechanical movements, including the in-house production of its complex dials at its specialized workshop in Pforzheim, Germany.
