Issey Miyake

Japanese design, textile technology, and freedom of movement.

Discover the story

Issey Miyake founded Miyake Design Studio in Tokyo in 1970 after studying and working across Japan, Paris, and New York.

His research challenged the traditional Western construction of garments using folds, technical fabrics, and methods rooted in the material and the body's movement.

Projects such as A-POC and the development of pleating techniques established the house as an international reference for innovation, where industrial design, craftsmanship, and functionality converge.
