NOMOS Glashütte
German watchmaking with refined design and in-house manufacturing.
Discover the story
Founded in January 1990 by Roland Schwertner in Glashütte (Saxony) just two months after the fall of the Berlin Wall, NOMOS Glashütte is a German mechanical watchmaker renowned for its strict adherence to the Bauhaus school's design principles.
The key technical differentiator for NOMOS compared to other manufacturers in its price segment was the development of its own patented internal escapement system (NOMOS Swing System), launched in 2014. Achieving technical independence in manufacturing the balance wheel and hairspring broke the monopoly held by major Swiss suppliers, making the brand a fully autonomous manufacturer.
Aesthetically, NOMOS watches (such as the award-winning Tangente model) are defined by their ultra-clean typographic dials, slim cases, and hand-blued steel hands, having earned more than 150 international industrial design awards.
