Discover the brand's history
Founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland) in 1848 by Louis Brandt, Omega is one of the most iconic and innovative luxury watchmaking brands in history. In 1894, it unveiled the 19-line caliber named Omega, whose precision and ease of repair were so revolutionary that it ultimately gave its name to the entire company.
Omega holds two unparalleled historical milestones: in 1965, its Speedmaster model was selected by NASA after undergoing extreme temperature and vibration testing, becoming the first watch worn on the Moon during the 1969 Apollo 11 mission (dubbed the Moonwatch). Additionally, it has been the uninterrupted Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932.
In terms of modern technical specifications, all of Omega’s automatic watch movements feature the Co-Axial escapement (invented by George Daniels and industrially produced by Omega since 1999) and carry the Master Chronometer certification issued by METAS, which guarantees resistance to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss.
