René Caovilla

Venetian jeweled shoes and high-end craftsmanship.

Discover the story

The roots of René Caovilla trace back to Fiesso d’Artico, near Venice, at the heart of the shoemaking tradition of the Riviera del Brenta. The family maison grew around artisanal manufacturing and a vision of women’s footwear closely linked to ornamentation and Italian savoir-faire.

René Fernando Caovilla brought a high-fashion dimension to the family legacy, drawing inspiration from Venetian visual elements such as the mosaics of St. Mark’s, Burano lace, and crystal. In 1968, he reimagined the shape of a Roman snake bracelet into the Cleo sandal, whose spiral strap wraps around the ankle and became one of the house’s most iconic designs.

Crystals, embroidery, shimmering surfaces, and hand-finished details turn many of its creations into true “jeweled shoes”. The brand retains Made in Italy production and an identity where craftsmanship, femininity, and decoration are inseparable parts of each product.
