Roger W. Smith
Luxury British handcrafted watchmaking with extraordinarily limited production.
Discover the story
Founded on the Isle of Man (United Kingdom) in 2001 by master watchmaker Roger W. Smith — the sole protégé and technical heir to George Daniels — it is arguably the most exclusive mechanical watchmaking manufacture in the world, producing fewer than a dozen pieces per year entirely by hand.
The defining difference of Roger W. Smith lies in the strict application of the "Daniels Method": a single craftsperson conceives, designs, and manually manufactures each of the 34 individual crafts that make up the watch (including the case, hands, dial, and movement components), with no reliance on automated production or industrial subcontracting.
Technically, its watches feature the perfected version of the single-impulse Co-Axial escapement developed by Smith, with dials cut from silver and gold, hand-decorated with guilloché patterns using 19th-century lathes, representing the pinnacle of British handcrafted watchmaking.
