Schiaparelli

Parisian high fashion with a strong creative identity.

Discover the story

Founded in Paris in 1927 on Place Vendôme by Italian avant-garde designer Elsa Schiaparelli, the Schiaparelli fashion house is renowned in the history of haute couture for merging fashion with the artistic currents of Surrealism, collaborating closely with artists such as Salvador Dalí and Jean Cocteau.

The brand's foundational historical and aesthetic contribution was the invention of Shocking Pink in 1937, as well as the development of revolutionary conceptual garments (such as the lobster dress, the shoe hat, and buttons sculpted as fantastical figures). Schiaparelli was the first designer to incorporate visible colored zippers as decorative elements in evening gowns.

Re-launched with extraordinary success in contemporary haute couture by creative director Daniel Roseberry, the Maison updates its Surrealist heritage through the use of leather goods and jewelry molded from heavy brass featuring human anatomies (eyes, ears, noses, and door locks), while maintaining artisanal manufacturing in Paris.
