Registered in 1926 by Hans Wilsdorf (founder of Rolex) and given a global relaunch in 2009, Tudor was launched with the explicit goal of manufacturing watches that offered the same sturdiness, reliability and water resistance as a Rolex, but at a more accessible price point using shared, mass-produced movements.
Tudor’s historical legacy stems from its military heritage: during the 1960s and 1970s, the brand was the official dive watch for combat divers of the French Navy (Marine Nationale) and the United States Navy (US Navy), developing its famous luminous angular hands nicknamed "Snowflake" by collectors.
Today, the manufacture produces its own mechanical chronometer-certified movements (COSC and METAS) and uses advanced materials such as black ceramic, grade 2 titanium and 925 sterling silver in its acclaimed Black Bay collection.
